SOLD - Zonophone Oxford Disc Machine - $495

Post by fonograph »

Here's a nice machine that was probably sold by Sears as an Oxford (due to lack of decal), but actually mfg. by Zonophone. It has a strong early two spring motor. The volume on the machine is unbelievable, it is VERY LOUD. The horn was hand painted by Danny Arms to match the cabinet. It has a Ron Sitko repro crank. There are a few dings and scratches here and there, but otherwise a very nice outside horn machine that won't break the bank.

Beautiful machine Bob-- Danny did nice work. Unfortunately, as I know you know, he left us far too early. :(

Yes, and he took his horn painting secret with him. Charles and Bill found some of the tools he used to make the grain but they couldn't figure out how he did it or what paint combinations he used.
He could do mahogany wood grain too.

He was also a VERY accomplished musician and could play multiple instruments. He used to front the Carl Story Band when Carl passed away.

Beautiful horn, Tim. I had a cygnet stripped and ready for Danny's talent when I heard he had passed away. Very talented man.

What a beautiful horn--and a nice Zonophone as well! Zonophones don't show up too often.

With the paint on the horn being of that quality, and the price being so low, it was essentially buying a horn and getting a Zonophone for free. This is a worthy and beautiful machine.
