Phonograph show in Rüdesheim, Germany weekend before Easter

For those of you in the US who might want to do something different related to the phono hobby this year there is a very nice phonograph show usually held the week before Easter and again in the late Autumn in Rüdesheim am Rhein, Germany. It’s not as big as some of the American shows but the atmosphere is great and there are pleny of things to do in case your spouse is not to into the phono thing, shopping, Rhein cruises, castle tours etcetera. Rudeseheim is sort of a tourist attraction too so there are plenty of old style hotels and pensions pretty reasonably priced.

Saturday night before the show, Siegfried Wendel, proprieter of an Middle Ages Chateau once occupied by the Knights of Malta now converted into a Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum opens his doors for an all you can eat barbecue, wine, beer and soft drinks included for ~$15/person. Mechanical musical instruments play in the dinning hall throughout the evening. After the meal Siegfried leads a tour through the museum and demostrates several of the insturments.

The next day you go spend all your money at the show! Mostly European machines there but you may be surprised at the interesting things you will find.

We normally see some American friends there that you might see in Orlando, Wayne or Union. Some of the Europeans on this forum have probably been there too.

My wife and I visited Siegfried's Musical Museum in 1979. I'm glad to see that Siegfried and the Museum are still going strong!
