Rebuilding Credenza Lid Lifts

Hi All,
One day when I was tooling around Utube looking at phono stuff I can across a Utube about rebuilding the dampers on a credenza-and now for the life of me now that I have one- I cannot find it. Anyone have any ideas where it might be hiding. It had great step by step detail and the creator of the post took you through the process of redoing them

Mine were totally not sealing, so I added a washer to the inside of each leather cup (a teeny bit wider than the inside of the cup) to help them open up more and seal better. That and some gentle, manual working of the cups to also open them up more. Oiled the cylinders good and they ended up working great again.

I agree with this statement. Ive bookmarked websites with certain information, and to work on later, only to find out a month or more later, either the site has gone away, or the page has changed it's content. "Save it when you see it" is the rule of thumb now. There are free pieces of software that will print to PDF files that I save for later reference. Works great.

Thanks for posting the links for the videos Tinkerbell. I also saved them. The ones on my Credenza didnt work, but followed the instructions (less the 3 in 1 oil thats "good for Victrola's") and now they work great. It took a little bit of time adjusting the valves to get it 'just right', but it was worth it!

I like to take them apart and turn the leather washers around.
Also use neatsfoot oil on them to keep them soft.
