Sonora motor meter question

I have a Sonora Chippendale with the dial-type motor meter. The motor is mounted on the cabinet rather than the motorboard. How can I get the motor meter arm to engage with the pin on the motor when the motorboard is installed? I haven’t seen a way to hold both the speed control and motor meter in place when the motorboard is lowered into place. I don’t see how the underside of the motorboard is accessible when it is dropped into the cabinet. I have enough trouble engaging the speed control properly, but have never gotten the motor meter lined up at the same time. Is there something I am missing here?
