HMV 101 Tropical Teak - possibly re-listed

Post by Antonia E »

Hey again Chaps, Chapettes, and Chapothers!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324232541611

Just spotted this has just listed on eBay. Am sure more expert eyes than mine will be able to guess how authentic it is, but if it is it looks lovely - front winding.... the little flip-top needle pots on the lid etc. I’m not bidding (spent enough on the hobby this month already!) but thought people might want a look in case they hadn’t spotted it.
Looking forward to reading replies as it’s also a great way for me to learn new things not previously picked up here and there. Unsure if this was the one previously listed with a high price (seem to recall it also had a brick wall backdrop).

Have at it! :D

The machine is mine, and not the non-selling example listed for several weeks on eBay at an eye watering £599.
I have too many portables, and am now trying to collect on a system of "one in, one out", so difficult decisions have to be made.
Having just been fortunate enough to buy an even rarer Teak HMV102, the 101 has to go. It had a Buy it Now price of £350, which was automatically removed when the first bid was made.

The seal of authenticity! Sorry I muddled it with the other (probably an example of my soupy memory these days) - the problem now is that now I know it's from a bona fide collector I'm starting to consider throwing prudence to the winds and making a bid!

Not that eye watering now ? :D Well done ! They should have gone for the BIN ! I see the first bidder was also the underbidder , he must be kicking himself , just shows when you see a bargain buy it !

No-one was more surprised than me. I have just posted it, packed to withstand an earthquake, and have upgraded the insurance at no extra cost to the buyer.
Now I must get on with sorting out the Teak 102 which I have just bought. That one will not be for sale. As some of you know, I am on a mission to collect all the coloured versions of the 102.
I already have all the catalogued UK colours apart from the grey, and finding the Tropical Teak model was an unexpected bonus.

Do say that if you track the last of them down there will be a group photo! That would be a thing to behold!
