Useful in the days before radar in WW1. On the south coast of England there are a series of large concrete sound mirrors which took it to a whole new level and were to help detect aircraft in the distance. They still exist today.

I wonder if those concrete sound mirrors have ever used as amphitheaters?

These ones are located in the county of Kent near to Denge, Dungeness -although there are others elsewhere in the UK along the coast. Here are some links to you tube videos about them.
