Hello Everyone,
My father is 83 and is looking to sell off his collection of phonographs. He has about 50 record and cylinder players. Also with horns, cranes, records, and cylinders available.
Could anyone direct me to someone in New Jersey or the tristate area that buys antiques/victrolas?
Thank you,
Ed

Re: Looking to sell large collection of phonographs
I buy Victrolas, model XVIi (17) or XVIII (18). I also buy XVI (16) in any wood other than Mahogany. I am in CT and can travel to pickup. Let me know (PM) if you have any of these, any condition. Thanks, Jon

If no one steps forward you have two methods to sell the collection. One at a time on either this site or through a regular site like Ebay. Or, you could contact an auction house who is familiar with phonographs.
I recommend Stanton's Auction House. They will discuss your options with you and they do pick up collections for their twice a year phonograph auction

Re: Looking to sell large collection of phonographs
Using some deductive reasoning, I am assuming your father may have some beautiful machines in his collection if he had a good eye. If for some reason, some lower priced off brands slipped in there over the years
and they say "GRANBY" under the lid, feel free to contact me.
Good luck! There seem to be some good guys on this forum who will point you in the right direction based on the responses I have seen thus far!

Re: Looking to sell large collection of phonographs
I started posting pictures of the items he wants to sell. I have a lot more to go. He has stand and table phonographs that I'm still getting posted to my website.

Re: Looking to sell large collection of phonographs
If you want common machines to sell at or below wholesale piece and then give 15% or more of sale to the auction house, then I guess it’s a great way to go!
