I had in mind to buy one from a lady on Etsy, who has a wide assortment of colours by the way, but she's currently not shipping outside USA due to problems with mail.

Pre-cut replacement gramophone felt.
Where do you buy replacement felt for your gramophones (possibly in Europe?). I need the round, cut to size type, for turntables that have a raised edge (that is: not the square piece of felt, which is then trimmed at the border, commonly used on external-horn machines).

Re: Pre-cut replacement gramophone felt.
Marco, I bought felts from Walt Sommers (cybertigger in ebay). He usually carries pre-cut felts that are quite well done. They are cut for Victor or Edison 10 and 12 inch turntable sizes, though, so if you are looking for another size it will not help much. He is in the US, so the shipment will cost a bit, so far I never found any supplier in Europe.

Marco. Earlier on the forum someone suggested placing a record over the felt on the turntable and cutting around it with a sharp craft knife. Maybe worth a try if you have some felt

JAS Antiques, 8225 Burkey Avenue, N.W. North Canton, OH 44720, USA used to supply well-made die-cut felts but this was some ten years ago and I am not sure of the current position.

Thanks everyone for your kind input. Carlos, that explains pretty well why I seemed to be unable to find any of such felts in Europe. The seller you suggested sells a very similar product (at first I actually thought that the two were twin accounts, but apparently they aren't) and ships to Italy, so I'll definitely try to purchase from him. Thanks a lot once again!

Walt is a very reliable dealer, I have been buying all kind of gramophone parts from him since years: felts, rubber backs, even fully remade soundboxes. If I recall well, he sent the felt sandwiched in flat cardboard sheets, and they arrived perfectly flat with no creases.Marco Gilardetti wrote:Thanks everyone for your kind input.
