The brass element has too much mass.And the stylus added is too flexible. Lastly stylus bar ratio is incorrect.
Reducing the mass by cutting the brass away and relocating the stylus closer to the pivot will improve the sound immeasurably!

You have to give credit for effort and nothing was harmed. The stylus/bar for an Edison model C will fit and work very well.
