Anybody has a HMV No.2 Catalogue / Roberto Bauer book?

Post by transformingArt »

I always wondered if anyone has a HMV No.2 "Historical" Catalogue from 1930s - I have couple of 'zeroxed' pages from the catalogue which I got from a Japanese collector, but I want to see the whole thing, in the first place. If anyone of you have that, can you share some more bits of it?

Also, I wonder if anyone has a book called "Historical Records", written by Roberto Bauer in late 30s - I have heard about it for a long time, but never saw a copy of that book.

Mark.

I spotted a number of copies of "Historical Records" by Roberto Bauer for sale, using a site called Bookfinder.com -- http://www.bookfinder.com

For instance -- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Historical-Reco ... 0283484209

While the UK Amazon's book is relatively cheap, prices seem to average between $100-200.

OF,

Thanks for reminding me of Bookfinder. I just bought a copy of Bauer for $23! A bargain. I've wanted a copy of that for years!

I've got one too. Mine is the 1970 reprint. It's a handy volume , I must say. It covers celebrity issues...on lateral cut....between 1898 and 1908/9 .

I'm not familiar with the HMV Historical #2 Catalogue. Is it this one:

The Complete Repertoire of His Master's Voice Records Comprising General Connoisseur and No. 2 (Historic ) Records with Particulars of Societies and Limited Editions Issued Up to and Including 30th June 1937

http://biblio.co.uk/details.php?dcx=32090560&aid=bkfndr

or

http://www.bookbase.com/search?search=% ... er_id=1196

Other catalogs and books for sale, containing the words "His Master's Voice" are listed here: http://www.bookfinder.com/search/?autho ... t=sr&ac=qr (This page takes awhile to load, since there are hundreds of books.)

Can you show me the rest of the catalogue - I wonder if you can scan more from the catalogue, but it might be a painstriking job...

Can you show me the pages with any pictures (*labels or artists), as well as catalogue of Grieg, Joachim, Caruso, Tamagno, and Pablo de Sarasate? I am recently dealing with the playing speed problems on these recordings - especially the Sarasate recording - and I think the information on the catalogue would help a little bit.
