Phonoboy's latest and best Diaphragm.

Post by larryh »

I have listened to most of Mike's diaphragm versions and he now has a really decent one with wide range, good volume and clarity. I have recorded three videos showing it on different types of music. This is the first and will most likely be the most popular. I am sure if your interested farther in them you can PM here. One is up tonight an the other two will go up tomorrow.
Its great that we are seeing the results of a quest for better sound coming true so we can all enjoy our records to the fullest extent.

ANOTHER one? Slow down everybody! Lol. :D

Any improved Diamond B or C diaphragms in the works? What about one for a model O or N?

Andy, the N uses the same diameter of diaphragm as a standard Diamond C, I believe. So I know what my next Standard E project is going to have--I'm saving up a TrueTone for it!

"One is up tonight an the other two will go up tomorrow."
Two questions:
(1) A "latest and best" diaphragm made for what reproducer or machine... and just in case I'm not the only one in the dark, who is "phonoboy"? :?
(2) Going "up" where? If you mean for sale online, what is the link or listing?

Sorry, but your post is missing important information... Its hard to guess what you mean.

Charles, I’m not buying anything until I save up for my first Triumph! I am so determined to get it and have it is my main cylinder machine! Then I can get into fitting my cylinder machines with True Tone’s and see if Mr Medved can replace my Diamonds if needed.

You're right I guess I thought most people were used to seeing posts from him here. He is Mike, his email is [email protected]

I am not 100% sure if he is ready to sell this model or not, he has listed them on ebay previously but this one is improved. The others are up tomorrow was related to videos of it in play on my You Tube site Acousticedison.

As to the cylinder diaphragms, I also made True Tone diaphragms for the Amberola & Diamond A & B machines, mostly for Steven Medved. Although I did sell some myself off ebay or word or mouth.

Maybe I didn't make it clear that so far as the True Tone Diaphragms for Disc Machines and Cylinders go I am winding down my construction of them so I was happy when Wyatt Marcus and now Mike have been able to make something equal or better than my design. My eye sight is fading and I have created probably well over 500 Diaphragms for collectors over the years now. I am resting easy because I wanted people to have the best possible sound from their machines. Something that at one time was lacking in our community. But now I can let others take the reigns of producing good sound.

Steven Medved may still has some of the Cylinder True Tones and perhaps some Disc ones as well, but there will be no more if they are gone. He does also now have other quality sources of them from a couple people.

Thanks for clearing that up, Larry... and thanks for your work in producing them.
