Kid With A New Toy

Post by tictalk »

I recently purchased this Victor Toy Phonograph circa 1901, I wanted to thank several forum members for there help and share there positive contribution to me a fellow collector and to the hobby. When I first saw the machine for sale I had no clue of its value or of the authenticity of the machine. I did an archive search on the forum and ran across an old posting of a member that had owned one. I contacted him and he gave me his unbias assessment of the machine and some past sale prices, thankyou Phonomark. I moved forward with the information I had gained and purchased the machine knowing the machine did not have the correct horn bracket. Well when I finally received the machine I was very pleased, but still needed a horn bracket, so I sent a message to another forum member that I know thinking maybe he had a similar toy and could give some pictures and dimensions, he did not have a similar machine but directed me to another forum member who might, thankyou Phono-Phan. I contacted that member, he graciously told me to ship him the horn and he would make and install an exact copy from the original he owned, I received it this week and it is perfect, thankyou Shawn . Those three forum members set an example to us all in taking the time to be helpful even when there is nothing in it for them, other than the satisfaction gained by being gracious.

Very nice, congratulations. A conspiracy of the highest value! This is what it's all about for most of us: collaboration and comradery.

Cheers,

It turned out great... glad you got the help you needed.

Glad to help with a referral. This Forum has some great members that are willing to offer help. The Victor Toy and Auxetophone are my bucket list items. You got this one at a very reasonable price. I was surprised that it didn't go for much higher.
