Columbia 113 on UK eBay.

This is the rare predecessor of the better known 113a. I was lucky enough to buy a good one a year or so ago. The example pictured needs a soundbox and general tidying.

Gosh I might just have a punt at this and try to polish it back up if I'm lucky and it doesn't become expensive.

Thank you for posting Epigramophone!

This machine uses a Columbia No.15 soundbox which has a spigot on the back to fit inside the arm, unlike the usual version. Luckily, the machine on offer looks to have the back of the soundbox still attached to the arm, so all that is needed is the front half of a standard No.15 soundbox.

Ah well it was not to be. It sat on my bid for days then someone dropped a bid (in the hundreds I assume) in the last three seconds so it sold for £123 and I lost it.

eBay is really annoying like that I’m very sad to have lost this one.

Oh well.

Sorry, Antonia, I was the ogre that snatched it from your hands. I had told myself that I would not buy portables anymore, but I did not pay attention to what I said, as it often happens. I have a couple of lonely spare soundboxes in my drawer, and they cried and moaned until I agreed to find a match to bring back music to their lives.

I still find it hard to believe that I bought mine for £25. It is definitely among my best ever buys.

Thanks, Roger, after all it only costed 5 times what you paid for yours (plus shipping)! In my case the chances of finding bargains in Luxembourg and vicinities are very limited, every now and then a German portable shows up, but otherwise nothing. At the end, I think 120 GBP is no bargain but no extortion neither, even if I have to add a soundbox. It might take several years until another one of these shows up or, as frequently happens in EBay, maybe next week a better and cheaper one will show up, and then Antonia will have another shot at getting her own machine!

The giveaway for another having shown up will be me sneaking into your home ninja style and gaffa taping you to a stack of vinyl so I've eliminated the bidding competition haha!

I'm sorry to say, Antonia, that you will not stand a chance: Didi, the assassin bulldog, and the killercat trio provide 24 hour/day protection to the château. That is, if you succeed in fording the moat in a single piece (sorry, no pics, gators and electric eels don't like to be photographed).
