Hi -
I'm offering a very nice, all original, Victor III. It has the optional 18.5" diameter smooth oak horn, and a matching oak record cabinet.
It's clean and complete, with no dings or dents, and the motor runs well. From the Victor Data Book's serial number info, this a Type A and dates to late 1909 or early 1910. The metalwork is showing its age in some places with some plating loss and slight surface corrosion, and the horn's finish gives evidence of hot-attic storage (although the finish is consistent on all horn surfaces), but none of this is too serious - see the photos in order to assess that for yourself.
The reproducer is a round-hole Exhibition that needs to be rebuilt (or perhaps replaced, if the plating loss is too severe), and would seem to be further evidence that this thing has been safely stored, unused, for a very long time. I found its missing rubber gasket piece inside the tonearm.
Backmount bracket paint and decorations are in very nice condition. The turntable felt is in really great shape too. Perhaps the felt color has faded over the years but it looks quite nice.
All I've done to it is clean it off a little and check the motor, and the next owner can decide what's next...but as we all know, it's only original once.
The cabinet is unbadged but is in nice shape and has a useful combination of storage for albums and loose discs, plus built-in needle cups.
This is all located here in the San Francisco Bay Area, and there are several pickup/delivery options available, thanks to our friend Jerry Blais:
1. You come pick it up here, or I can deliver it within a few hundred miles (I need to get TF outta the house).
2. I hand it off to Jerry in January as he travels from Oregon to Arizona, for delivery to points between SF and his Arizona destination
3. I hand it off to Jerry on his return trip to Oregon, for delivery to points between SF and Oregon, or you pick it up from him in Oregon later
4. Jerry carries it back to Oregon, and then conveys it to the O'Hare/Chicago (Union replacement) show in June for pickup there, or delivery to points between Oregon and Chicago.
All of these interactions will be masked and distanced of course.
Thanks for looking.
