Sounds like it has about 90 percent wow & flutter. If you could get that ironed out, might not be too bad.
The steam effusion might not be great for record labels either. Could reduce static buildup on the record itself though.

I think the addition of a governor, (rather than what appears to be a "throttle governor"), would be a great help.

What is the amp meter ?? Or is that an RPM gauge. Those sterling motor phonographs play better. Tom

Since it is claimed to be a "Steampunk" steam phonograph, the meter/gauge is probably just for looks... along with the wood knobs on the front.

The gauge is for RPM and works by magnetism--source, the video description.
