This may be a tough one, but can anyone tell me the specific size of the bulb that is used in Victor a phonograph lamp? Mine is blown in my VE-XVI and would like to get another. I need the socket size for the proper bulb (E12, etc)
Thanks!

Resolved! Measured the width of the base which is 12mm and found it to be an E12 bulb! Maybe this will help others!

You're in luck. E12 is a pretty common size. I recently ordered a replacement bulb for my venerable Agfascop 35mm slide viewer. It takes an E14 base; on the internet I found a good deal on a box of six bulbs (enough for six lifetimes? The original bulb is still working, at age 54 years! It's an Osram brand from Germany).

And if it works, why do you want a replacement?

Just in case.... Seriously, I've been going through hundreds of 35 mm slides and transferring them out of Carousel trays into archival file boxes, so the slide viewer is getting a lot of use lately. My Carousel projector was broken (it's fixed now) so I couldn't use it for a while. I did not want to be without a replacement bulb in case the Osram died.
Anybody want a bunch of 140-slot Carousel trays, FREE?! Pick up or pay the postage, they're yours. But hurry, they're going out to the landfill tomorrow!

Henry,
Are you digitally scanning your slides? I need to do this with a bunch of mine...

Not at present, Curt. I have thousands of slides. My Minolta slide scanner died, and I have only a flat-bed scanner with a transparency lid, not the best set-up. Until I get a better (i.e., dedicated 35mm) slide scanner I'm just storing them for now. Since Minolta abandoned the consumer photo market, there's no support for product repair; too bad, as that Dimage IV was a great little slide scanner.

Hey Steve, the original bulb was tested with an OHM meter and is ok. Its an issue with the socket itself. I tested the socked with a Multimeter and am getting power to it. I'm going to clean it with contact spray next and hope this does it!
Do you know if there is anything other than the switch cord to turn on the light? I know the lid support activates it right?
Here are a few spares I ordered:

you can get some acid etch cream and frost the bulb very easily. Steve
