Machines and Parts- Maryland Eastern Shore

Hi All-- I'll post this here instead of in the Trader since I don't have many details or prices

BUT-- I just got off the phone with an acquaintance that lives on the Maryland Eastern Shore. She and her husband have been antique dealers for the past 40 years and are now getting rid of most of their inventory. They are in their early 80's and have decided to quit the business.

Phonographs were one of their favorite things to buy and sell-- According to the wife, they have several buildings that have phonographs and parts in them... "Lots of parts"-- I have not seen what they have. She mentioned three credenzas, a machine with curved sides (Sonora, perhaps?) and "an electric machine", as well as others. It sounds like it is mostly inside horn machines, but I know that over the years they bought outside horn Victors as well as Edison cylinder machines. I believe they bought nice machines that needed minimal work, to put in their shop or to take to Antiques Shows.

They would like to find someone who would be interested in looking at everything and making them an offer. They are a truly nice couple who would love to put things into hands of collectors rather than taking things to auction. Ten years ago, I would have already been on my way to see everything, but a bad back and other health concerns has taken me out of the accumulating mode. :)

If anyone has a serious interest in talking with them and hearing what they have, please contact me and I'll provide their contact information. There just might be some diamonds to be found.

Thanks!

Hello Brad and all:
I visited Elizabeth and Charles White (they gave permission to give contact info) today and had a nice talk with them and looked over what they had.
There are 10 upright machines, most needing some restoration. The best two are a Columbia Viva-tonal model 800 and a Victrola VV8-35 without original albums.
Asking price for the 800 and VV8-35 is $200.00, and $100.00 for any of the others. There are two Electrolas: A VE-XVI and VE-XVII (lid detached but present) with upper works needing re-assembly.
There's a small amount of machine and cabinet parts. I did not go through the records, of which there are several hundred stacked in a medium-size shelf unit.
Any offers will be considered, as they are interested in moving these out.
You can contact me via PMs for more details or contact Elizabeth directly:

Seems like decent prices for machines that need some work. I didn't see an 8-35 in the photos, but I noticed a Credenza.

Yes, no photo of the 8-35 but it was in fair/good condition.

Thanks for the update, Bob- and the pictures. Glad you were able to make the connection with them. As I said in the original post... Very nice folks.

The prices seem really good to me.... If only my back would let me........ :)

When Elizabeth originally called me, she said they had "lots of parts"... Was there anything of note??

No, not a lot of parts, and just the one outside-horn in with the lot. Some of these suffered from being stored in a leaky outbuilding.
