Looks like that will be a great machine when your through restoring it. Looks to have the same components as the 9-55 but in a more compact cabinet and without the auto changer. I see that you need to put back the box that protects the light bulb underneath. What happened to your UX199s? Are they just not inserted in their sockets or has the catacombe moved? Good luck with the restoration and don't forget to come back with photos. If you have a you tube acount a video would be excellent.

I assume that the lower doors on the cabinet are for record storage.

I wished the condition of every machine in "a state of suspended animation" would be as good, complete and un-butchered as yours. The gildung looks perfect and even the turntable felt is nice.

I'd be very interested to hear how you deal with the missing finish on top of the divide between the radiola and the phono. The cabinet of my machine has similar issues and I have left it so far as im not sure the best way of bringing it back up again.

These are typical signs of wear after many decades of use (not misuse). I would strongly suggest to protect such traces of history. We have enough livelessly renovated machines.

Nice machine! I had the pleasure of hearing one of these at Chuck A.'s palce in PA a few years back, they really sound great.

Starkton, that's likely water damage between the two compartments. It can be at least blended in without much effort. It depends on the finish itself, if it is just water damage, it's an easy fix. If the finish is totally gone in that area, it could be duplicated. My 10-50 had a few small spots like that. It had water dripping on it for years, a little experimentation and some good pro advice and I was able to blend them a bit with MEK and a lot of patience. They aren't perfect (and to me, they shouldn't be), but at least they aren't the first things that glare out at you any longer. I don't consider that to be over-restoring, either, rather a simple repair and tone down. Victor provoded info which is republished in LFTD explaining how to touch up spots like that.

This is a good point. I thought it was abrasion from use. I agree that water damaged parts should be restored in such a way as to blend with cleaned original surfaces.

MEK is Methyl Ethyl Ketone- a solvent.
