Mainspring Winder
Looking for a mainspring winder capable of winding any phonograph or talking machine spring. I have looked at clock ones but no idea if they will work on, say, and Opera, DD or Reginaphone spring.

Re: Mainspring Winder
Hey Brian,
Did you get Ron Sitko's lathe along with the phonograph parts? I'm pretty sure that Ron told me that he used his lathe to wind the mainsprings he sold. I visited Ron in person fairly often and thought that was how he told me that he wound the mainsprings when I asked but, of course, I could be wrong on that. I remember him showing me the large rolls of steel stock he used to make the mainsprings. I'm sure that you got those. He had quite a few of those. In any case, good luck with your search. I know there is a big demand for the mainsprings now.

Yes, I have the lathe and agree that is how he did it but unless I am missing a critical step/jig it is completely unsafe.
