European Victor I Back Bracket ?
I am currently restoring a Victor I that has an odd slip-in back bracket. I was guessing that it might be a European model because I've seen similar European back brackets. So, is this a Victor back bracket?

Don't the European Victor products has brackets similar to American machines but they are nickel plated and have minor differences? Jerry

I've never seen decorative casting like this on an English, German or French HMV, and up until just before WWI all the metalwork was imported from Victor in USA anyway.
It looks Swiss or maybe German to me.

Isn't this the back bracket that you need that European elbow for or is this another European back bracket in order to use that horn??. I guess now you need two of those elbows.
.This one is Swiss or German.

No. this is a different back bracket that came with a regular Victor slip-in elbow (which somehow fits the bracket). I bought this purely for the purpose of restoring the Victor I.gramophone78 wrote:Isn't this the back bracket that you need that European elbow for or is this another European back bracket in order to use that horn??. It could be a Thorens bracket then, as they used the same size slip-in elbow as Victor/HMV. Im not sure if this is also true of other companies like Lindstrom etc.

WOW!!!!.What are the odds???
. I had a vic 1 back bracket I sold last year.It was for a large case 1 with a 10" table. Mind you it was not a very late slip in type. George Velloma may have one and you will need the arm,etc.....As for the Euro parts......not a lot of $$$ in those. However, you can try and sell them in the Euro Ebay sites. I would think the cost of what you need is going to run upwards of 300.00.Best of luck
.

Yea the European ones are exactly the same as the American ones except they are often nickeled. That's not a Victor or HMV product you have there. Could be German or Swiss as others have suggested.Energ15 wrote:Jerry B. wrote:Don't the European Victor products has brackets similar to American machines but they are nickel plated and have minor differences? Re: European Victor I Back Bracket ?
I agree with the others that this is a Swiss, German or even a British back bracket. It might even be a Crapophone one if the casting is not crisp or clear. The late Victor 1 used the same bracket and tone arm as a Victor II. The late Victor 1 used a larger case and a 10" steel turn table. The tough part is going to find a slip in elbow. Can you post some pictures of your Victor 1 and I can help you identify it?
