I don't know anything about Pathé phonographs. But from what little I know something doesn't look right. Motor board, tone arm, open compartments?

Looks like another example of one of the Pathé Actuelle cabinets that were built for a cone reproducer in ca. 1919-1922. When Pathé discontinued the cone reproducers they sold the excess cabinets by inserting old metal tonearms that fed into standard horns under the turntables. I own one of the Sheraton cabinets that was originally built for a cone reproducer but after 1922 sold with a metal tonearm.
The Actuelle cone reproducers were large and required more space (see images attached from a ca. 1921 Pathé phonograph catalog). Those cabinets also had panels that opened on the sides (not just the front) so that the sound could project in multiple directions. But the cones, though an interesting departure, were not quite as lively as the older tone arms with standard horns--which Pathé reverted to in 1923. Yes, it makes for a strange appearance to see the standard equipment in one of those large Actuelle cabinets.

The cabinet with alone with the cone or the updated horn is a real beauty and would be a great addition to any collection. Thanks for the history lessen.pughphonos wrote: Wed Feb 23, 2022 11:25 pm Looks like another example of one of the Pathé Actuelle cabinets that were built for a cone reproducer in ca. 1919-1922. “Pathé cone reproducer” = ‘diffusor’
