I've stumbled across the first (troublesome) version of the Edison Amberola VI. The spring is broken at the center. Can anyone tell me what size spring this takes? I can see it is 1" wide and has pear shaped ends. Anyone know if this spring is the same as any of the more common models? Or what the thickness and length is? I don't have a way to accurately measure the thickness at the moment. Info or a replacement spring would be much appreciated!
I'm a bit skeptical about how this will perform but I'd really like to get it running. I'm assuming there will be motor noise--but how much remains to be heard until I get a new spring. The paint actually cleaned up quite nicely since I took the photo, so it seems like a worthy project.
Thanks!

Tried Brian last week, he may or may not have made some by now but I know he's busy. I'll check with him again soon.
That's a great chart! Thank you so much!

That is a great chart. Ron Sitko made an A-VI spring for me just before he passed and it matches the chart exactly.

Re: WANTED: Info on Amberola VI Spring
Bob, Thanks for sharing the Edison cylinder phonograph main spring chart. It's interesting that the Amberola X is given model B and model C designations (as does the Frow and Sefl book) with different main spring attributes. However, I've only ever seen "X" and "D X" indicating the models on the Amberola X stamped ID plates. Initially released with the Gem motor (rather weak for playing 4 minute cylinders), this suggests that an attempt at 'beefing up' the main spring at the factory for this model was being done in an attempt to avert customer problems with playing their 4 minute cylinders with the originally supplied Gem main spring. It would be interesting to see pictures of the different Gem A, B and C motors - specifically the main spring area.

I tried searching for the post on Victor Spring specifications with no luck. Does anyone else remember the post on Victor springs?

Re: WANTED: Info on Amberola VI Spring
I'll try to help you. We were discussing about length of springs, and some brands were mentioned. At a given point the discussion was about the length of the Victor and hmv springs being stamped on the barrels... I'll see if i can find it....
