FRAUD on Live Auctioneers

Post by Raphael »

This item was listed, and "sold" today on Live Auctioneers. The auctioneer is McLarence, in London, England:

https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/12 ... phonograph

The bottom line is that all of the pictures are mine, and the item sits at my home in Davie, Florida. I never consigned the item to McLarence, and in fact have never even heard of them until today, when Guido Severijns in Holland alerted me to the situation.

Buyers, beware, even Live Auctioneers, a reputable auction platform, has their share of scammers. I have reported it to them as well.

I've notified Live Auctioneers and McLarence, and have heard nothing back. Doesn't surprise me. Maybe I'll try Scotland Yard next.

Doesn't surprise me either. No one cares about fraud here if the sums involved are small.

Report it here: https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/

The Federal Trade Commission has its hands full but at least they will be a record somewhere.

To their credit, Live Auctioneers has advised me that they have opened an investigation. I had to supply them with pictures of it still sitting in my house.

I can't believe how easy it is to register as an auction house on LiiveAuctioneers.com ! the auction house McLarence London, United Kingdom is registered at 78 York Street, London, England, W1H 1DP along with another 76,599 other companies 1

They also had a fraud issue raised with LiiveAuctioneers.com in 2021 but are still listed :? :?

Interesting. The last name listed (Jin, Yu) matches the name of a customer that bought some high-end items from me about 20 months ago. The deal originated in the U.K. by him and the goods were shipped to others in China. Hmmmm.........
