Columbia Q Reproducer Question

Post by columbia1spring »

In regards to the Columbia Q first series with the unpainted base.
When new, is it a hard fast rule that silver Q’s only came with the early style reproducer and the black base Q’s
only came with the 2nd style reproducer? Is there any documentation during the change over from first series to second series that the factory used up parts till exhausted making any reproducer possible?

Checking Hazelcorn's book, the #3 reproducer appears to be unique to the first style Q, and was replaced by the #7 on the second style: there is no mention of any transitional period.

I had searched for awhile and never found anything myself either.
The #3 reproducers are quite pricey of late!
Thank You
