My Victor O

Post by Edisonfan »

So, my Victor O that I won! Arrived today via FEDEX! Considering it’s age, it looks good. Although it will need some cleaning. The crank handle had a bit of rust on it, so I used sandpaper to remove it and GOOP to clean it up. I don’t know about the chrome, but I’m sure someone has an idea? It doesn’t take a lot of turns to wind it up! However, I have had to fiddle with the speed. Turntable does wobble a bit, but it’s an entry level machine. The sound box that came with the machine, needs a new gasket, and a bit of cleaning. However, I was able to swipe the sound box from my Victrola to use on this. The motor froze briefly, bit manage to get it free by messing with the speed control. I know this is an unusual choice for a first talking machine, but eh?

I bought a Victor IV through Kijiji and it came with that odd reproducer in my post that was meant for the Victor 0, according to what I was told and from others here as well as the link below.
One has to take things with a grain of salt, information else where isn't necessarily accurate all the time.
At one point, if all is as what it should be, your reproducer was changed out as an upgrade.

That’s what I thought? I have ordered a new gasket for the sound box, new bumpers for the speed control and brake, plus new rubber feet!

Since your Vic 0 is a very late one, I would wonder if the Vic 2 reproducer may not be the original equipment.
