Plain H&S cylinder cabinet drawer
One of my cylinder cabinets has a plain top drawer with no indents cut out for the pegs, at first I thought somebody may have flipped the bottom around, but the bottom side is clean as well. It is completely identical to the rest of the drawers otherwise, and looks unmodified to me, so I assume it is factory and was meant to hold accesories and boxed cylinders. Is it typical for some H&S cabinets to have a "clean" drawer?

Could the bottom have been replaced? The wood seems a bit different from the other drawer...

Yes, the grain seems to run the opposite way in the top drawer too, so I'm leaning towards it being a replacement also.Lucius1958 wrote: Fri Jun 10, 2022 10:22 pm Could the bottom have been replaced? The wood seems a bit different from the other drawer...![]()

It would be highly unusual in any type of drawers to find the grain wasn't uniform throughout them all unless they were homemade and poorly made from scrap timbers.
