FOR SALE: Unusual Gold 3-format Edison Disc Adapter -$295

Post by long_island_phono »

Here is an unusual convertible Edison Diamond Disc adapter in Gold wash that is capable of playing lateral cut 78’s, vertical cut 78’s, and Diamond Discs.

I’ve struggled and failed to find another example for comparison, and unfortunately the only data on the body reads “Pat pend.” Too daunting of a task to sift through countless phonograph patents.

The reproducer appears to be entirely original, including still supple rubber gaskets. In the accessory needle chuck is a good stylus, set in a shank, for Diamond Disc playback. As you can see, unlike Pathé-style vertical cut reproducer attachments, this reproducer can orient its diaphragm parallel to the turntable, a la a Diamond Disc reproducer or the few aftermarket DD-only reproducers.

What do you think?

Price is $295 shipped anywhere in the continental US. Shipping elsewhere at cost.

Brunswick reproducer? Almost identical in front, but then there's the back, and the odd black gaskets.

Not likely that Brunswick would make a device for an Edison.
