O/T - is skype down worldwide?

Post by Swing Band Heaven »

Just a quick question to any other skype users. Is skype down worldwide. Its been unavailable in New Zealand all day today and I wondered if this is a local problem or whether its worldwide?

Thanks for the quick reply. Bet there is panic at skype headquarters - particulalry at this time of year when many will be looking to make use of it to talk to family - me included!

Record a wax cylinder then post it, they can then shave it and record and send it back. :P

I hope it's down forever. Skype (or some entity spoofing it) recently made a bogus charge to my credit card, which charge was tagged as fraudulent by the credit card company. They immediately canceled my card and issued a new one. I didn't even know what Skype was until this happened. And I don't want to know now.

The exact same thing happened to my credit card this past September. I don't think it was Skype. In addition to several Skype charges, there was also several thousand dollars of charges to various antique shops. What was most curious to me was the credit card company knew exactly which charges were fraudulent and just wanted me to confirm. It suggests to me that knew where the compromise occurred.
