Make sure you're accepting cookies and that your anti-virus software doesn't automatically delete them.

I haven't seen this here in the USA - yet.

The same thing has happened to me. I once had 11 different codes sent to my mobile phone in as many minutes, and each time I entered the code it came up as expired, despite being supposedly valid for up to 15 minutes.
As someone who regards mobile phones as the spawn of Satan I find this new and unnecessary intrusion infuriating. The system will not accept a landline phone number. It assumes that everyone on the planet has a mobile phone.

It drives me nuts although I haven't had the continuous and multiple texts -yet. I suspect I've got that pleasure to look forward to. They really know how to cheese off their customers. If only there was a viable alternative in the UK.

Just don't get me started on Paypal!!!

I wondered whether I could avoid this nonsense by paying for eBay purchases direct from my bank account rather than through PayPal, but decided against it as despite it's faults PayPal is the more secure method of payment.

I think we would all welcome a viable alternative to eBay in the UK, as only strong competition would force them to improve.
Our American friends have Craigslist, which barely registers a presence in the UK.

I'm not sure of Craiglist being an alternative to eBay, there are accounts of people that was murdered when trying to collect their purchases!

I have used Craig's list for years. It's not another Ebay. I am able to sell stuff locally with Craig's list that doesn't require a wide audience to sell to. When a buyer contacts me, I give them directions to my local Police department parking lot which is a safe place to transact cash business. I prefer selling on Craigs list, but I will still use Ebay when I can't avoid it. When I sold my Nissan truck on Craig's list, the transaction took place at my bank where the cash was deposited, and all the papers signed. I know that Craig's list is established in the U.K. so you might want to give it a try. Facebook marketplace gets more traffic, but I don't like the company so I try to avoid it

So I just visited Craigslist UK and selected the area (Bristol) nearest to me.
Searching Collectibles (their spelling not mine) produced zero results. Searching Antiques produced one result, a sofa.
That says all that needs to be said about Craigslist's presence in the UK. They pose no threat to eBay's virtual monopoly.

Craigslist doesn't allow you to do auction sales either - just set price sales.
