FOR SALE : 2 Very Rare Diamond Disks - $125.00 Each

Post by Shawn »

Folks,

Here are two seldom seen Diamond Disc records that I can bring to the Wayne Show, which is about 1 month away or ship at the buyers cost.

Please contact me with interest at [email protected].

Thank you

Shawn

First, I had the good fortune recently to purchase as small set of Diamond Discs from the family of an Edison Employee. This employ was the recipient of "Discarded" diamond discs from the factory. It has long been held that "Discarded" Diamond Disc records were defective pressings, usually the labels, not the music itself.

I sold the very few number of the records I had at the Chicago EXPO within minutes of the show open, or I thought so!! When looking through some records, I found one more that was put in a wrong pile!!!

These records were "discarded" by Edison, even before they had labels, play very well, and are in excellent condition. There is nothing that is defective on these records, in fact they are in really, really nice.

The label provides proof positive that "Discarded" records remained the property of Edison, and were "loaned" to employees, never to be sold or loaned to others.

Here is what the stamping on the label says:

THIS DISCARDED RECORD IS THE PROPERTY OF THOMAS EDISON INC. W. ORANGE N.J. TEMPRORARILY IT IS BEING LOANED TO AN EDISON EMPLOYEE WHO IS NOT TO SELL IT OR LOAN IT TO OTHERS. UNDER THE PENALTY OF IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL FOR VIOLATING THIS RULE.

This record has an unfinished edge, as the other ecords in this group that I found.

Second, The following record came with the Discarded records. It was recorded in 1928, at the end of record production for Edison. These late Diamond Disks are nearly impossible to find in any condition. This one is in outstanding condition.

52630 - On the Farm - The Goldman Band / Chineese Wedding Procession - The Goldman Band SOLD

The record looks to be never played. A wonderful example of a very late record!!
