For Sale: Several Rare/Hard to find Records

Post by kendphono »

I have several records for sale that I believe are very good records. All the records are in excellent condition. Side A of the Deanna record has a very interesting title. I will show pictures of both sides of them. The pictures do not do the records justice.

#1. Treasury department (Guest Star) 12" - #1009 Cab Calloway 7/25/66: #1010 June Valli 8/1/66. Both with Mervr Griffin as the host. $35.00

#2. Brunswick UK pressing, 10" 03818B - Deanna Durbin - "You Wanna Keep Your Baby Lookin' Right" $10.00
Brunswick UK pressing, 10" 03818A - Deanna Durbin - "The Turntable Song"

#3. Brunswick UK pressing, 10 " 03007A - Deanna Durbin - "Amapola" $5.00
Brunswick UK pressing, 10 " 03007B - Deanne Durbin - "Love is All"

The next two are very rare test pressings by Helen Morgan. Helen Morgan had beauty, talent, success. Yet they mean nothing to her without the love of Larry Maddux, the bootlegger who leads Helen on and drops her so often she finally hits bottom. Set in the roaring 20s, The Helen Morgan Story is also Madduxs story. In his fifth film, Paul Newman plays the mobster with slick assuredness. In her final movie, Ann Blyth portrays the troubled songstress (and Show Boat original cast member), with Gogi Grant performing vocals on signature Morgan tunes. Appearances by 20s icons Rudy Vallee, Walter Winchell and Morgans real-life accompanist Jimmy McHugh bring bracing authenticity to this tale of a legend whose songs could heal any heart but her own.

Helen Morgan recorded for both Victor and Brunswick bit there is no evidence that she ever directly recorded for Columbia. These are two Columbia test pressings with songs that she appears to have never recorded for any other company. The test pressings edges were never finished so they are rough. The records themselves are in excellent condition. There is no evidence that they were ever played. The back of each record is blank.

The records are 11" in diameter. The Matrix numbers are CPB 127 - A and LA 310A. There is a semi circular crack in the outer surface on 127A. It does not go through to the other side. It goes in about 10 grooves. it also has a small crack in from the edge that is very slight. it too does not go to the other side.

I am asking $35 for each of the test pressings.

THE TWO MORGANS ARE SOLD
