I thought it might be fun to have a list of miscatagorized or possibly
fraudulent Ebay and Craigslist ads. Here is one for starters that gave
me a chuckle:
"Victrola or Cygnet Horn" Interesting to note it is stamped with "MUSIC MASTER RADIO REPRODUCER GE CO"
it's a decent idea, but if you're going to compile a list that will be around for a while, you should really include images, if not screen shots of the ebay listing, in your post here (with images directly loaded to the forum rather than through some third-party host). otherwise, once the ebay link goes dead in a month or so, it will be useless and any related comments will lose all context.
That's a darn nice radio horn, and that power cord is speaker cord that ran to the radio. I'd love to replace my boring horn speaker with one like that music master.

Is that second Waves LLC photo supposed to be wrong for some reason? I think the people at Waves aren't fraudulent and have honest (although not cheap by collector standards, maybe antique shopper standards) phonographs here in NYC.
You should be careful about your opinions. I've known the folks at Waves for many years and I will defend them as having the utmost integrity. You need to be careful when you post an image from someone elses site that is a business person. If your point was to simply show a similar horn complete, you better say so. Again the folks at Waves have been fair and honest in any of my dealings with them.
I agree with ripduf1. Starting a thread about fraud with a legitimate dealers logo and image is very careless and could mislead newcomers and novices alike.

"better say so"??? his post seemed pretty straightforward to me - that he was commenting on an ebay listing for a misidentified item. I'm not sure which lines you're reading between to interpret any negative assessment of the waves people (I've bought from them in the past as well and found them decent enough, but I really don't see where their business or their integrity is at all relevant to this thread).
Well I've spray painted over the company name on the photo if that helps any, but my intentions were certainly not to dis the company or it's stock, but was to show the complete & original horn posted at the link provided, and to clarify that the "power cord" is the speaker to radio connection.
I do agree with Brian about posting pictures, particularly when it comes to ebay & craigslist links, because there's nothing worse than reading a thread a couple months later to find a string of dead links, but I also agree with you guys when it comes to posting other peoples images when it could be taken out of context in relation to the threads title or subject of conversation.
Hopefully my comment about the complete horn pictured would make it clear that it's a pretty desirable item as far as radio horn speaker go though.
I guess that's the trouble with these kinds of threads. When you start making fun of other peoples spelling mistakes or uneducated descriptions etc, you're bound to p*$$ someone off, particularly if you label them as fraudulant or bogus when in the case of this particular ebay auction it's probably more a case of mistaken identity.
To me, a truly "bogus" listing would be one that offers an item for sale that the seller does not own, but they have used pictures found on the web to make the sale seem legitamate, or when an "educated" seller deliberately attempts to mislead by making up facts or hiding damage etc in their photos.
Actually I must point out that the link to the photo is to
a legitimate site and only used as a reference to the fact that
its a radio horn and not a Victrola or Cygnet horn. My apologies
for the mistaken inference that the horn was the same as the one
on Ebay. I have also made some edits to my posts/topic to better
reflect my intentions, which is to highlight misleading
listings in the hopes of preventing people from getting ripped off.

To further clarify, this is a legit pic from a legit business only used as a reference.
