Japanese Paragon Tabletop Model 60

Post by Watanabehi »

This is one of the best sounding Japanese Paragon Tabletop Model 60. It has a unique horn. This was sold in Yahoo Auction Japan. I missed it unfortunately.

Very nice indeed. Any better pictures of the soundbox?

What is that horn made from? It reminds me of a coiled snake. I love it. I don't care much for snakes though.

This thread should move to that of the strange things found inside gramophones.

Me too. Interesting and apparently high quality design acoustically. It looks to me as though it could be some kind of bituminous lagging - fairly similar to how the horns in the large Orchorsol cabinets were treated.

According to Mr. Kei Ikeda, who was a very famous audio file specialist in Japan, the horn is made of some metal coil, new paper or fabric and asphalt.

Interesting, very similar to the Victor Orthophonic.

Very interesting, thank you.

So we have an internal horn which is a sort of hybrid between an EMG horn and a road surface! I'd love to hear it in action.
