Cute Lil' Children's Phonograph and Records, CL Staten Island - $20?

Post by Cody K »

Almost seems kinda suspicious at the price, but I can't imagine that if a person were anywhere close enough to Staten Island, it wouldn't be worth their time to at least check it out.

I'd think just the album of songs by Little Pussy, Little Doggie, and Cock-a-doodle-doo would be worth the whole money - how often do you come across original copies of their early work these days? -- And it looks like there's a number of other albums too, though perhaps by lesser known artists.

Anyway, what a cute little machine.

Made by the Plaza Music Company, the Kiddiepact and the even smaller Kiddiepact Junior were announced in the Talking Machine World, October 1928 issue. I am over 3000 miles from Staten Island, otherwise this collection would be SOLD.

I'm a little less than 200 miles from S.I., but I don't travel well anymore. I do think the price, combined with the quality and quantity of the goods and the sometimes-sketchiness of Craigslist ads recently, makes the offering look a little "off", possibly, but if it's valid I hope someone who's close enough to the sale will be able to obtain it all (and maybe tell about it on the Forum).

Thank you for identifying it!
