Is it just me?!?!?
I recently bought some phonographs and records. There was a box of 30 black wax records. When I was going through them, one slipped out of the cylinder box bottom when I lifted it out. It of course fell to the floor and broke. It was in the best condition of all of them before I broke it. It was the only record of any interest or value. The rest were either moldy or nothing special to listen to.

That's the way it always happens. Whether it be records, vacuum tubes, bottles, fine china, or what have you. If one falls and breaks, it's almost always the best one of the lot.

Not just you--- Two examples from my own "luck"
1) Years ago I was sorting through a large number of Jolson records, spreading them out on the floor. I collected Jolson, so I was trying to put them in chronological order according to the discography. When the phone rang (before cell phones when you actually had to walk to get to a phone
) I carefully tip-toed through the piles. On my return, I lost my balance and stepped on "The Old Piano Roll Blues" -- a mint record I had just purchased two days before--- and which had prompted my organization attempts.
2) Just a couple months ago, I was pulling some cylinders off a shelf where I had been "organizing" again--- Almost all were Blue Amberols-- but the one I bumped that fell to the floor was an excellent condition Busy Bee. Even though it was in its box, it shattered. I now have a real nice box
Moral of the story--- Organization is not what it is "cracked" up to be.
