bumps to the "phonograph webring"...?

Post by brianu »

this site is still randomly bumping me to a separate site called the "phonograph web-ring." I know this was discussed before, but has anyone figured out why it's happening or how to stop it? also, what is the "phonograph web-ring" any way and who coordinates it? not to kick a dead horse, but it's just extremely annoying.

It's been happening with more frequency to me, too. It is annoying.

But it's not just here.

I was browsing a Bob Dylan site recently, and got 'bumped' to another web ring that concerns itself with all things Bob Dylan.

I have to clear my browser and start over again. Maybe there's a browser setting that will prevent this.

Add me. I've been bumped to WebRing fairly often recently. Moreover, when hitting my bookmark for this site, I frequently get a mostly white screen with the message "Safari cannot connect because it cannot find http://forum.talkingmachine.info/" or some such. Eventually I get connected, but this never used to happen at all. Most annoying.

Ditto for me as well. On Sunday, I couldn't view this site at all. I was continually bumped to that WebRing site. The only way I was finally able to reach this forum was by clicking on a cached page. I wondered what everyone was talking about the last time this was discussed, but now it's happening to me too.

GET RID OF THE WEBRING!! It's happening to me all of the time. Took me three tries to sign in and post. I had to completely back oout of the forum and start over. Why is is it even here?

Ummm... what everybody else said! Seems (for me anyway) to occur more frequently now when using Firefox than with IE. :rose:

I use firefox and have it configured to block redirects. I see the status bar frequently telling me it prevented a redirect on the boards pages.

I agree with Jim, dump the ring, Regulars know were we are and newbies and find us via Google.

How do you configure firefox to block re-directs? As this will solve the problem for me and a number of other users.
