Poor pictures of a huge Frankenphone

Post by phonodesbois »

Sorry for the pictures taken on the fly at an unfriendly dealer shop.
Except the “motor board” and might be the horn, all parts looks old.
Huge cabinet (the record looks so small!!)
Odeon reproducer.
Obviously, no manufacurer name.
Should we call it gramophone?

Yes, I would certainly call it a gramophone.

For me, the only real down-side is I absolutely can't stand circular shaped motor-boards / gramophones !!!!

It would have to be re-housed in a square one !!!

A lot of people though would say n'écoute pas !

As you mentioned in the title, it is probably a Frankenphone - the back bracket seems lifted from a Pathé machine, the extension of the arm looks very dodgy and home-made, and the base cabinet may have been originally a plant stand or similar.

Hello, thanks all for your comments!
When I saw this Frankenphone, I told the dealer that this machine was “bizarre” but he looked at me as if I was a perfect idiot…. It was a bit frustrating!
Carlos, you’re certainly right, the base must be an old plant stand but considering the price, It’s way too expensive for an orchid…
Poodling around, I also hate circular gramophones except a few as Symphonion or Odeon Bauhaus.
Have a nice day, Jeff
