I couldn't work out what the iron contraption is ? It looks adjustable and kind of interesting ..........

Also, is that a Meltrope iv sound-box ?

No, not a Meltrope anything and that contraption doesn't look like anything relating to gramophones to me, but more like a Victorian dental apparatus!

Interesting, auction houses often include non-gramophone related items so you could be right.

I don't know much about moulding planes but if this is one then it looks very well constructed.

It's a grooving/moulding plain, probably Stanley.

Aha ! Thanks clevelander.

I don't know which ones, but I understand that some stanley products are very collectable - so maybe this one is ............. :?:

Try explaining that to your wife! "Darling, you know I was after a moulding plane? Well, I found one on Ebay, only it came with some very tatty cheap portable gramophone, allegedly made by Decca, although I don't believe it as their stuff was usually of a high standard!"

"Barney, you haven't started collecting gramophones, have you?"

"Er, no, dearest, if I did I'd go straight for an EMG, not some cheap Decca knock-off, rest assured".
