A few days ago I saw a post on craiglist regarding a victrola XVII, advertised for only 100 dollars; Upon closer inspection of the Ad it turned out to be in a dark oak finish. I immediately responded to it and set up a date to pick it up. When I got there a week later after a three hour drive, I was pleasantly surprised that it included a key, and the original packing slip. This is certainly the gem of my collection, love the grain figuring. I have included some pictures of it below.

Very nice machine. It is interesting that there was a hole in the record compartment. Was there a hole up to the turntable area to place a radio drive on the horn?

From my understanding, this was a modern modification. The previous owners said that they had drilled that hole in order to run cables for a stereo system. I'm so glad they didn't think to pull the guts out. Phew!!Skihawx wrote: Mon Jul 17, 2023 9:09 pm Very nice machine. It is interesting that there was a hole in the record compartment. Very very nice! I've seen more American Walnut XVII's than oak. Nice find.
