Screw threads and sizes for an Edison Home and Standard

Looking at Blacksmith Bolt for new fasteners for my projects and I am not sure what size are the cabinet screws used on common Edison cylinder phonographs.

The ones holding the bedplate to cabinets may be #5 screws? I am unfamiliar with early designations for wood screws--they are round head ones I do know, and are blued (easy enough to replicate that), but I don't know what the sizes used are.

I have a Home and a Standard here neither of which has the bedplate fastened down, and I don't know how to order screws with the old designations yet.

(Speaking of odd sizes I have to replace all hardware on a c. 1908 swivel chair to go at my desk, and the bolts on it aren't turning up at Lowe's exactly! So that's fun.)

Anyone know how to order bolts and screws in 1910?
Thanks

Charles

Charles,

You are on the right track, Blacksmith Bolt has a wide selection of screw fasteners and most have a technical data sheet.
This is another case where a few measurements of the existing screws are worth a thousand armchair opinions.

Everyone working on machinery should own a simple vernier or digital caliper. Here is good reason for you to buy one.

Measure your wood screws if you have a sample and post the dimensions here and reference the sizes so that we can all benefit.

I got lucky today and found some extra screws on a dead case. They are pretty good as far as condition and yes I actually do own a digital caliper, but without screws to measure, I didn't have anything to go by.

Now that I've found a few of those screws I can get to that but I have to find where I boxed up the caliper first. Probably somewhere I would remember where it is, which is going to take awhile to locate.
