SOLD: Outstanding Victor III, $1995 SHIPPED in USA!

Post by gramophone-georg »

Against my better judgement, I'm offering up this very nice mostly original Victor III. Serial number is 40248 (I think... older eyes :) ). Original horn, back bracket, filigree, horn elbow. clamp, turntable felt. Plating looks original with one defect on the top of the elbow. It was quite dull when I got the machine but polished up NICE, including the turntable edge. The horn paint is original, with a few very minor bumps and a few spots touched up with a black Sharpie only. The reproducer has new silicone gaskets and a new isolator, is fine tuned and sounds as nice as the machine looks. It will play electrical recordings LOUD but without blasting using a soft tone needle.
The Exhibition soundbox does have the triangular needle hole, so it may not be original to the machine... or it may. I don't see a suffix on the serial number so who knows. Also, I am absolutely certain the cabinet finish is not original. It's a great "original style" finish, though. The outside finish is a damn good match to the inside of the box. However, on the underside of the motor board, there's a definite glossy red mahogany finish, so my guess is that someone "modernized" it after mahogany came into mode, likely a long time ago, and a subsequent owner put it back to original. Aside from that, the amount of originality to this machine is pretty amazing. It clearly has been cherished.

The spring motor is clean and excellent running- quiet like a later Victrola; no thumps, bumps, or speed variations. It plays through a 12" record with plenty to spare.
It's a really viable "daily driver" candidate should it be chosen for this.

I'm asking $1995.00 SHIPPED in the continental USA. Overseas shipping no problem. If preferred, I'm completely happy to store it for the Jerry B Express to the Midwest show in Chicagoland or APS in California with full payment. I'm charging $150.00 for careful boxing and shipping using "Pirate Ship" discounted shipping, so deduct that from the price if you choose the no shipping option.

And, as always... offers considered, PayPal or your good check accepted, satisfaction guaranteed.

:o WOW. That is one nice machine. I've always wanted a nice daily player external horn disc machine (my victor O doesn't fall into that category).

As George mentioned, I'm happy to bring this machine to the APS Midwest Expo in June.

I have received this from George today and everything is as described and shipped very securely/safely. I am over the moon with this machine! My daughter Amelie was also excited to unbox everything and play some of her records. Thanks again George.
