Making of Ray Phillips Hardy Tinfoil Phonos

Post by JimN »

I can't believe that I just found this 2007 video today. I had one of these Ray Phillips machines.

Great Video!, Sometimes we don't understand the effort that it takes to pull off something like this. Never had much feel for a Tinfoil unit even though I have read about them in the past. Watching the video gave me a better appreciation for this type of machine.

Very nice! I'm lucky enough to have one of these reproductions. Very interesting to see how they were made.

I’ve got tinfoil phonograph fever. This video is a gem. Thank you posting it! Love seeing the process. Is Ray still around? How many did he make and what did he sell them for and what are they worth now? The sound reproduction is amazing. Thank you for posting!

Fascinating to see how this was done, lots of fun. Really opens my eyes to the amount of work and skill involved. I've seen this video before, but it's great to see it again! :)
