The cheap unbranded soundbox and the eye-watering 35.94% auction fees will probably depress the sale price.
On a more positive note, the horn is not as droopy as some Mk IX's that I have seen.

The auctioneers say the cabinet has been stripped but I'm not convinced as there are no obvious signs of a previously darker finish having soaked into the joints anywhere. Also, has anyone else noticed that the horn is also a very light matching colour in places? I can't imagine anyone being brave enough to strip an EMG horn! Could it not have been made this way? As is usually the case we won't know for certain without seeing it in the flesh and will be relying on the photos!

This one must be of interest to "poodling around" presumably so maybe he will be viewing it? :D

Ha ha !

I gave it a passing thought but to be honest I wouldn't get out of bed for less than a tropical jointed "Export" model Oversize 10B :)

I wonder if the auctioneers meant striped oak and not stripped oak? It doesn’t appear to have been stripped.

This looks like a post WW2 gramophone with the four supporting feet altered to pre-war specificaton. I tried phoning the auctioneers four times asking them to lift the turntable to reveal the number but to no avail.

Thats gorgeous, I'd buy it myself, I love a Mk 9, and had to sell mine a while ago, but I'd have to sell a couple guitars which isn't likely to happen before tomorrow!, I wonder where it will wind up

For this poor standard of service they charge on line buyers 35.94% and sellers 21% (17.5%+ VAT), thus creaming off over 50% of the sale price! How can such charges be justified? The answer is that they cannot.

Auctioneering must be a unique business model. I can't think of any other business where you can treat both your suppliers (the vendors) and your customers (the buyers) with equal contempt and yet rarely fail to maintain a regular stream of both.

I think general auctioneers survive due to the fact that a lot of supply comes from house clearances and the last chance saloon: people just need to get rid of large volumes of home contents and know no other method of doing it. For that reason alone, and similar to undertakers, there will always be a plentiful supply of items to sell.

Yeah, the color difference between the feet and cabinet caught my eye.
