Well, the six people in the UK who will be interested in this all already have a 113 so unless theres a surge in interest in colonial machines this week, my guess is you will get it for £100 plus shipping.

I have two of these. They are not identical, with some differences in needle holders and other details only perceptible if you put them side-by-side. I learned from a post in this forum that this machine was issued in two variants. I am not a completist, but I recall that the second machine was on the German eBay for a relatively low price, and I did not resist the temptation, and coincidentally I ended up with both. It is a nice gramophone, very heavy. I like the veranda lid that protects the grill, and it has a good sound, being basically a HMV 130 dressed for the Indian market.

I'm afraid that on the day I buy a third HMV130 my dear family will have in their hands what they are looking for since years: a solid case for institutionalization. You will then read the news that a local Luxembourg dump was submerged by weird old contraptions with horns, and a mountain of vinyls that crack when thrown on the floor, with the owner carried away in a straightjacket.

Ha ha ! Very funny indeed ! Of course all good jokes have an element of truth in them !

I know what you mean though. I have three early Decca 'Trench' gramophones with the copper coloured reflector. Every time I go into the gramophone room and see them I think "why three" ? Fortunately it all makes sense when I remember that they are all shiny and kind of square shaped !

For some reason that I'm at a complete loss to explain, I have multiple machine duplicates as well. I think it's more common for collectors than we're sometimes prepared to admit. You buy a machine to "upgrade" another similar example you already own only to then discover that they are not quite identical and the collector factor really kicks in so you elect to keep both.

I only have one 113 now but I do own 3 teak 101s and 2 114's. I'd trade one of my teak 101's for a teak 102!

Well judging by the fact that our friend Craig Feek had a 113 for sale for several months, I'd say the market for uncommon and colonial HMV models isn't all that hot. The usual suspects won't be slugging it out this time so who knows?

Similar to the Deccalians, which although the prices are stupendously high, are only really being fought over by two people. Most bidders drop out at a sensible level but it then leaves two ardent fanatics to put peddle to the metal and send the price through the roof.
