Does anyone have a parts list, particularily of the motor, that they could post please?
I think that I am missing that fits under the spring to keep it away from the fibre gear as it unwinds.

I think George Vollema has Victor assembly parts catalogues in his website Great Lakes Antique Phonograph... I once downloaded it and printed in a booklet.
https://www.victroladoctor.com/new-repl ... part-page/
Here downloaded
There was also an interesting document reporting on all variants of Victor motors, with photos etc, by Paul Baker?? It was once published in this forum, but I cannot remember where it was... Maybe an internet search...

Can you post a picture showing the area of concern?

Sorry I havent been around recently.
Here are a couple of pictures to demomstrate my problem.
As you can see, as tthe spring unwinds it drops toward the delicate and expensive fibre gear.

Your motor looks similar to a Trademark Berliner motor. There is no "cover" to protect the fibre gear, BUT the spring doesn't come into contact with the gear...

This is a closeup of a replica Berliner motor (exactly like the originals) and you can see there is no close contact to the gear from the spring. Why does your spring get near the gear?

Examining the photos I would suggest that 1) the spring is misplaced, and the vertical axis of the first gear seems trapped between the coils; shouldn't the sitting coils be at the side of that shaft? 2) is the spring the correct size?

Thank you both.
I do not know what the dimensions of the original spring are. Perhaps mine is an incorrect replacement although it does have quite an age.
It only gets near the gear when in the last stages of unwinding.
