New Cylinder boxes

Post by Garjen127 »

Hi, I'm looking for a plain cardboard box for a cylinder. Does anybody make/sell new cylinder boxes?

In Spain there are new supermarkets named PRIMAPRIX (one just in front of my home) which sell many varied things, among them boxes of dental cleaning silk thread lyres; the interesting thing is that the boxes are like the cylinder boxes! Measurements, data and photos to follow soon, as I can return there to check size and diameter, the name of the company producing this, etc.

Watch this space... :clover: :clover:

Here I am with the photos of that new box. Measurements will follow soon.

EDIT: Measurements are: External diameter 72mm x length 122mm; internal are approximately 64mm diameter x 112mm long
I don't know the Edison cylinders measurements...

A friend of mine runs a simple record label, but he only produces Cylinders. He might be interested in selling you the boxes but I'm unsure, they aren't of the highest quality either. :?

Edison box internal dimensions: 110 mm length, 56 mm diameter. The floss box would fit, but it would need some liner to keep the cylinder in place. I have bought empty vintage cylinder boxes, every now and then they show up for sale in lots, for low price. There is a manufacturer of reproduction amberol boxes in the USA, but I found their price too high, in most cases more than what I paid for the cylinder itself.

Yeah. I forgot what it was called, but I recall an online shop which sold empty cylinder boxes of various types around the $3.00 mark.

Burdette Walters makes new cylinder boxes for various brands, labels. Orange Blue Amberol boxes, Columbia Indestructible, Lakeside, Lambert etc. I just ordered a dozen with various labels. His prices went up, so what else is new with inflation, here is a clip he sent with new pricing...."We were forced to raise the price. The tube cost almost doubled!! Pink lambert are now $4,75, Black Lamberts are $7.25, Lakeside are $4.75, and Columbia are $4.75" Just look him up on Facebook if interested. Sure you can find all the Gold Moulded boxes you want out there, but where you going to find that spare Lambert or Lakeside box for your orphaned cylinder? He also makes the Royal Purple boxes too, and he has lids for all of his boxes. James Manker
