Edison Gem Phonograph

Post by Budaid »

I inherited an Edison Gem Phonograph with the most recent patent date of May 31, 1898. The serial number is G98632. How can I find out what model this is? Is there a data base where I can look up the serial number? See attached photos. Thank you.

Do not carry the machine by the lid handle, most people believe you can, you use it to remove the lid off the phonograph.

Is the motor missing? It appears all 4 motor mounting screws are gone.

Jerry, the inside pieces were just laying around on the wood base and I am sure there are several pieces missing. See attached photo. Also, see the photo of the end of cylinder. I would like to know of someone who could restore it to working condition.

It appears that all the parts you're missing are included here... https://www.ebay.com/itm/267099575856?_ ... R_L70PiDZQ

Any leftover, duplicate parts, could be resold.

Jerry, yikes! Do you think $178 + shipping is reasonable for that? Should I see if he would accept less?
