My latest article/video--Edison disc reproducers

Post by drh »

TNT-Audio has just published the first of a three-part series I wrote about the Edison disc reproducers. A companion video demonstrates each in the same music on the same machine. Here's a link for those who might be interested: https://www.tnt-audio.com/vintage/ediso ... l_e.html#1

There was also the second-style ‘bubble weight’ reproducer made entirely of pot-metal and produced very briefly before Edison returned to the ‘plate-style’ reproducer.

So THAT is what those are!

I have a bubble weight reproducer I got in a mixed lot a long time ago, along with a plate style and several common types. I always thought it was some sort of aftermarket replacement to increase weight or something - not that I ever actually weighed it.
