REDUCED: Shimandy Phonograph Dancing Toy $375

REDUCED Price- $375- This is a rare toy-- in very nice condition.
A year or two ago, I started selling some of my phonograph toys- Here's one of the rarer ones.
Shimandy was introduced perhaps as a girlfriend for the more common Rastus.

This one still has her original dress in pretty nice condition compared to others I've seen. She is complete except for the often missing "hat"-- which was more of a fabric patch that was held in place by the wire ring (still present) and likely with a small feather attached. There were a few variations of Shimandy dresses and hats. It would be fairly easy to fabricate a hat that compliments her dress--- But- I've enjoyed the bald Shimandy for many years.. Now its time to let someone else care for her.
The base is the original base and spindle ring that came with her when I bought her 30+ years ago. It is Marked National Toy Co (hard to read--but visible in the picture) & Made in USA. I have let her dance just a few times over the years. The fabric of the dress may be somewhat fragile, so she's mostly been "eye candy" for Rastus to enjoy.

Asking $375 plus $10 shipping in Continental US for this hard-to-find toy.

Hi Ken-- Thanks for posting a pic of your Shimandy-- I've seen a couple different original dress 'styles'. The dress on yours looks like mine with the bow front and rear--and I believe Stephen Madera has one with a similar dress. Do you think your feathery 'hat' is original? I've seen a cloth "bucket-type" hat on one with a small feather attached on the side-- That was many years ago and I don't know if it was an original or not.

Anyway-- They are fun- i suspect there were variations depending on whatever fabric scraps were available in the factory.

I have to believe the feather hat is original. Some other collector mentioned they saw another one like it years ago. I am surprised yours isn't sold yet. Not a bad price on it.
