Victor Needles Question

Post by ColoradoPhonograf »

Happy New Years to all,

I have a general question about Victor needles. I have loud tone, medium tone, and soft tone. Right out of the original packets. I'm curious where half tone needles would fit into the line up, volume wise compared to the others?

Thank you,

Half Tone = Medium Tone. HMV used the term "Half Tone" to describe their medium tone needles.

There was also an extra loud needle in the Victor lineup. I have had a couple of packs for years, but I'm afraid to try them, considering that normal full tone (loud) needles can drive me out of the house on many records.

I used to have several sealed envelopes of NOS Victor Extra Loud Tone needles. I liked to use them when demonstrating my (now former) Auxetophone. They really did add a whole new dimension to the experience. I just checked and found I still have two unopened packages of them.
